Alone. A shoot, a sapling or a full-grown tree?
Your shadow stems from you, casts long
and replicates the shape, inside yourself,
you simply may not see. Your desert childhood
formed dark places unattached, in harsh ground.
Later, your roots survived and sucked by instinct,
found an aquifer, and your fronds, like palms,
reached high to photosynthesise beneath the sun.
